Information and support centres

Offers free information and confidential support to anyone affected by cancer whether you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, or you’re a family member, carer or friend. Our services are available face to face, over the phone, online or by email for those who are unable to access the service in person. Our highly trained staff and volunteers will listen to your worries and concerns and offer free confidential support and advice. We offer: A drop in service (within a comfortable, private environment) – no appointment needed; Free leaflets, booklets and resources on all aspects of living with and beyond cancer; Access to benefits advice and other sources of financial help. An opportunity to discuss work related issues such as finding the words to speak to your employer, understanding your rights at work and what reasonable adjustments may enable you to remain in or return to work. Access to practical help such as transport and travel insurance; Signposting to local services such as counselling, complementary therapies, physical activity programmes and more; Access to programmes to help you cope with the physical and emotional effects of cancer but during and after treatment e.g. fatigue management workshops; Signposting to support for family, children and carers; Information about your cancer care and treatment and how healthcare professionals can help. Our range of information is also available in different languages and formats, as needed. Whilst the services above are all offered at the Ulster Hospital, a range of free information resources are also available in the Out-patient departments in each of the other hospitals within the trust which include the Downe Hospital, Lagan Valley Hospital, Ards Community Hospital and Bangor Community Hospital.
